The project Final Closing Events, including Final TIMMOD Conference, Thematic Transboundary Meeting (TTM #5), Regional Strategy Validation Workshop and a lot of communication and dissemination activities have been organized in Tulcea, Romania in the period 4-7 May 2022. Host of the events was the Romanian project partner- Danube Delta National Institute – DDNI.

The Final TIMMOD Conference gathered more than 90 participants on site and in parallel almost 20 more joined the event online.  The Conference was officially welcomed by Dr. biol.  Marian Tudor  – General Director  of Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Developement Tulcea, followed by welcome speeches from Mr. Gabriel Teodosie Marinov – Governor of  the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority Tulcea, Dr. Elitsa Petrova –  Lead Beneficiary:  Director of Institute of Fish Resources Varna, Mr. Lucian Eduard Simion – representative  from  Tulcea  City Council, Mr. Gabriel Francisk Stika – General Director of  Apele Române National Administration (ANAR) – Bucharest and Mr. Marian Chiriac –Director of  National Agency for  Fisheries and Aquaculture Tulcea (ANPA).

The fifth TIMMOD Thematic Transboundary Meeting (TTM #5) took place to present the results and achievements of the two demo surveys, conducted in Varna, Bulgaria and Batumi, Georgia (more info here: https://timmod.org/index.php/en/events/field-surveys-trainings).

Regional Strategy Validation Workshop have been organized in order to have final feedback and input to the TIMMOD Innovation Strategy. The TIMMOD Innovation Strategy, which was the basis of the project, designed to bring together national, regional and European Union policies and regulations, combined with new information policies and technologies for greater transparency of the application of marine innovative equipment. The vision of the Strategy is to make the Black Sea cleaner, through monitoring and modelling of the marine environment using advanced tools and to provide a sustainable use of Black Sea fish resources, as well as living aquatic resources.

TV promotional campaign in Romanian served as additional tool for promoting of the results of the project targeting the local public.

 

Final dissemination event have been also organized along the Strategy Validation Event in Romania gathering executives and policy makers from the regions and from other relevant institutions. The aim is to promote the project achievements and to disseminate the results of pilot demonstration activities and strategy to a larger audience.

In online environment series of digital promotional campaigns were held in all Partners’ countries with modern interactive tools for questioning/interviewing and providing relevant feedback from Stakeholders and general public.

The Final TIMMOD activities have been associated with the “European Maritime Day 2022, #EMD in my country” initiative, promoted through the information channels of the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

 

TIMMOD activities at a glance

Group Activity T1

Inventory and promotion of innovative environmental monitoring technologies for assessment of fish stock and non fish living resources. This activity aims at the elaboration of an Inventory of Innovative water monitoring technologies for monitoring of chemical, physical and biological parameters, and assessment of living resources.

Group Activity T2

Assessment and recommendation on advanced hydro-environmental numerical tools for data handling, real-time control and forecasting of marine conditions in the Black Sea. The main aim is to broaden the focus of traditional data processing and numerical modelling approaches by taking into account the holistic perspective in the analysis.

Group Activity T3

Pilot demonstration project on innovative monitoring using advance methods and instruments. Selecting innovative instrumentation, data handling and numerical modelling tools that are going to be demonstrated in two sea areas/test sites in Varna and Batumi.

Group Activity T4

Innovation Strategy to improve joint monitoring, data sharing and cross border information exchange systems in compliance with Marine Strategy Framework Directive and Data Collection Framework. This activity aims to develop common Strategy for supporting the implementation of modern technological upgrade in joint environmental monitoring, in service of the cross border cooperation and data sharing systems.
