In April 2022 the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia has implemented the second phase of the Pilot Demonstration Tests, Training and Marine Surveys using Innovative Monitoring Equipment in the Batumi-Gonio Bay.
Demonstrations and trainings onsite included preparation works for sampling survey and mobilization of equipment for the CTD buoy platform. On board measurements and data acquisition were conducted successfully collecting the spring raw data for further analysis and comparison with the results from Demo Tests- Phase I from October 2021.
BioSonics hydroacoustic echosounder have been used for data collection for fish assessment. Data have been collected at 120 kHz using an echo sounder (DT-X Extreme echosounder BioSonics) with split-beam transducers mounted on the hull, ~1.5 m below the water surface.
A demonstration of JW Fisheries Sealion -2 have been performed. The device is completely mobile underwater camera that can be controlled from the surface and capable of staying submerged indefinitely. It can dramatically reduce search time, as well as the risk and high cost associated with sea bottom observation and diving operations .
